Working For More Work

Obelisk is a display typeface created for visual artist; Elliot Collins. Designed as a nod to early colonial European granite plaques and slabs, Obelisk is charcterised by its small, delicate serifs and curved stems, all indicative of the tool (chisel). When tightly set, the negative areas around each letterform take on a reflection of the characters themselves, offering a sense of solidarity to the content conveyed—a fitting reference to the various monuments that inspired them.
